Complaints Procedure

CODE OF PRACTICE FOR PATIENT COMPLAINTS

In this practice we take complaints very seriously indeed and try to ensure that all patients are pleased with their experience of our service. When patients complain, they are dealt with courteously and promptly so that the matter is resolved as quickly as possible. This procedure is based on these objectives. 

  1. Our aim is to react to complaints in the way in which we would all want a complaint about a service to be handled.  We learn from every mistake that we make and we respond to patients’ concerns in a caring and sensitive way.
  2. The person responsible within the Practice for dealing with any complaint about the service which we provide is the Practice Manager.
  3. If a complaint is verbal the details will be listened to on the telephone or at the reception desk, and offer to refer him/her to the Practice Manager immediately if available.
  4. If the Practice Manager is not available at that specific time, then the patient will be told when he/she will be able to talk to the Manager and arrangements will be made for this to happen.  A member of the staff will take brief details of the complaint and pass them on.  If we cannot arrange this within a reasonable period or if the patient does not wish to wait to discuss the matter, arrangements will be made for someone else to deal with it.
  5. If the patient is still not satisfied after speaking to the Practice Manager then we would request that the complaint be put in writing and addressed to the Practice Manager.
  6. We will acknowledge the written patient’s complaint in writing and enclose a copy of this code of practice as soon as possible but normally within three working days.
  7. If a complaint is about any aspect of clinical care or associated charges it will normally be referred to the dentist involved unless the patient does not want this.
  8. We will seek to investigate the complaint within and respond within twenty working days of the complaint being received to give explanation of the circumstances which led to the complaint.
  9. We will confirm the decision about the complaint in writing to the patient immediately after completing our investigation.
  10. If complaining on behalf of someone else, please note that we keep strictly to the rules of confidentiality.  If you are complaining on behalf of someone else, we must know that you have permission to do so.  A note signed by the person concerned will be needed, unless they are incapable (because of physical or mental illness) of providing this.
  11. Proper and comprehensive records are kept of any complaint received.

From receptionist to dental practitioner the level of service is second to none. Every aspect of my treatment from assessment to finally having the finished result (which I love) was always discussed at every step, in what was a long process for me to get to having confidence simply to smile in public. I would say to anyone who is apprehensive about dentists to try here as they have such a nice chilled and professional way of talking you through your treatment and they do offer pain free dentistry.

The best dental care I have ever experienced! I can’t recommend this practice enough, hands down the best Dentist I’ve ever visited! Alisdair made me feel confident about the treatment and relaxed, and I usually feel very anxious in the chair! Updated - visited Shereen & Irene today for a Hygiene appointment and I'm again really pleased with both the treatment and results. Shereen was excellent and gave great advice, and I loved the charity donation made on my behalf - booked my next appointment already.Updated Jan ‘22 - just had my dental implant completed and so happy with it! Ali is a total perfectionist and guided and reassured me throughout the process, which seemed daunting at first but I needn’t have worried. The lab matched the new implant to my teeth perfectly and it was painless throughout, which is incredible. The team are all excellent, I wish I’d had it done years ago. Thank you!

I have always had a fear of the dentist until I recently came to dentistry @ no 3 and I met rebecca. I had to get some quite invasive treatment which was surprisingly all pain free. Rebecca and her assistant made me feel so relaxed and explained everything she was doing. I never thought I would find myself looking forward to going to the dentist. I had just moved over from Canada and needed dental work. Rebecca treated my cavities and it was the most painless procedure I’ve ever had done! She used specialized needles and I mean it when I say I felt nothing! Rebecca and her staff gave me a very warm welcome to Scotland!
